  • The final placement process of IIM Calcutta for PGP 2015 has completed. The placement process has been completed within 2.5 days. The lateral placement season for candidates with more than 22 months of work experience saw a total of 143 offers. With 18 offers, IT giant, Accenture was the largest recruiter this year. Major conglomerates like Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Aditya Birla Group (ABG), CK Birla Group, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Essar, Lodha Group, Wipro , Airtel hired for their leadership and general management roles.

    Students at IIM Calcutta were offered more than 100 jobs from this sector. Prominent recruiters included Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Citibank, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, Avendus Capital, ICICI Securities, Kotak IBD, Edelweiss, Allegro Advisors. Exclusive roles for IIM Calcutta students were offered by Bank of America Merrill Lynch for Investment Banking, Markets (Hong Kong) & Risk (HK & Mumbai) divisions. Other exclusive offers were made by Goldman Sachs Markets (London & Mumbai), Credit Suisse IBD, BNP Paribas IBD, etc. 



    Top recruiters from this sector were The Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Co., McKinsey, AT Kearney and Accenture Management Consulting which altogether offered about 18 job offers. Other recruiters in this sector included Alvarez and Marsal, Opera Solutions (exclusive recruiter), BMGI, Synergy Consultants, ZS Associates and Deloitte. 

    Sales & Marketing

    About 19% of the students were offered jobs in this sector. Major recruiters were Proctor & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Kelloggs, ITC, and Philips. Leadership and General Management roles were offered by Tata Administrative Services, Aditya Birla Group, CK Birla Group, Reliance Industries Limited, Essar, Lodha Group, Wipro, Airtel etc. 


    The number of offers from the E-Commerce sector has increased dramatically as compared to the last year’s offers. The total number of offers made in this sector were 47. Startups like Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart, Olacabs, GroupOn, Quikr, UrbanLadder, CarTrade were the prominent recruiters. Online medical practice management firm Practo, an Infosys company- Edgeverve, Germany based incubator firm Rocket Internet and Nokia Networks Finland hired exclusively from IIM Calcutta.

  • IIM Lucknow Placement Report 2015

    The final placement process for the batch of 2015 at IIM Lucknow has been finished. According to the B-School, 453 students have been offered 463 offers by 144 recruiters out of which 43 were new recruiters within 4 days.

    “The number of lateral offers this year was the highest ever and increased by 23% compared with last year,” says IIM Lucknow. The offers included 93 Pre-Placement Offers (PPO), 163 lateral offers from the higher entry placement process (HEPP) and 207 offers from the final placements. The companies which made high number of offers across various sectors includes ABG, Accenture Management Consulting, Amazon, Barclays, BCG, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, HDFC Bank, KPMG, McKinsey, Reliance Industries, Samsung, Snapdeal and Star TV.


    Sector wise Placement

    Sales & Marketing has been the highest recruiting sector followed by Finance and Consulting. The domains on which the offers were made include market research, analytics, business development, social media marketing and HR among others.

    FMCG/consumer goods/telecom sector/ digital media


    Some of the top companies from the FMCG/consumer goods/telecom sector/ digital media were Airtel, Coke, GSK Consumer, HT Media, HUL, ITC, Kraft-Cadbury, P&G, Pepsi, Star TV and Vodafone. In addition to the traditional sales & marketing roles, these firms offered roles in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Finance, HR and Analytics with some of them being exclusive roles for IIM Lucknow. The top 3 recruiters of this sector included Proctor & Gamble, Hindustan Unilever and Kraft-Cadbury.




    Companies such as Avendus Capital, BAML, Barclays, Citibank, CRISIL, Development Bank of Singapore, Edelweiss, Goldman Sachs, HDFC, HSBC, ICICI bank, IndusInd Bank, Nomura, Standard Chartered and Yes Bank among others were the top recruiters in this sector. The major roles were offered in front end investment banking, global markets, corporate and wholesale banking, market research, trading and operations. Goldman Sachs, ICICI bank, HSBC, HDFC and Nomura recruited in high numbers.


    Consulting and General Management

    The consulting sector saw participation from top recruiters such as Accenture Management Consulting, A.T. Kearney, BCG, Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, McKinsey and PwC. There were 4 new consulting firms which extended offers in this sector at IIM Lucknow final placement process 2015.

    Companies such as Aditya Birla Group (ABG), JSPL, Mahindra and Mahindra, Reliance Industries and Tata Administrative Services among others were from General Management domain.



    The top recruiting companies in this sector were Amazon, Appsdaily, Cognizant, Commonfloor, e-Bay, Flipkart, Google, HCL, Infosys, Magicbricks, MAQ Software, Mindtree, PayTm, Shopclues, Snapdeal, Uber and Wipro. These firms offered IT/Systems profiles along with Business Development, Supply Chain Management, Product Marketing, Program Manager and Analytics roles among others.


    New Recruiters and Profiles

    There were 43 new recruiters in this year with over 60% of them belonging to Sales & Marketing, Finance and e-Commerce sectors. Some of the other sectors included Consulting, Systems/IT, General Management, Media and Automotive. The roles were primarily in sales and marketing, finance and e-Commerce.

  • IIM Ahmedabad has completed the final placement process for the PGP and PGP ABM programmes for the academic year 2013-15. The IIM Ahmedabad placement followed Cluster Wise or Cohort specific placement sessions. However, instead of 4, the process was completed within 3 Clusters itself.


    The schedule for the IIM A Cluster wise Placement is given below:

    Cluster 1: 15th February 2015

    Cluster 2: 22nd February 2015

    Cluster 3: 1st March 2015

    Cluster 4: 8th March 2015


    However, the entire batch of 375 got placed within Cluster 3 itself. According to IIM Ahmedabad, the placement process, with the concept of “dream application”, allowed students to choose the sectors and functions of their choice for their final placement.


    The placement process was conducted in 2 stages, Lateral and Final Placement. While the lateral placement was meant for the students with prior work experience, the final placement was for the freshers. Mid management roles were offered in the Lateral Placement process.


    Lateral Placement

    About 50% of the batch was eligible for the Lateral Placement process. The participating companies belonged to diverse sectors such as Analytics, Banking & Financial Services, Management Consulting, Consumer Services, Internet & E-commerce, Pharmaceuticals and Technology. The top recruiters included Aditya Birla Group, Alvarez &Marsal, Amazon, Flipkart, Google, Microsoft and Star TV India amongst others.


    Sector wise Placement Trend

    The total number of recruiters was 115. Let us have a look at the top recruiters across sectors.




    Recruiters in the consulting sector included global strategy consulting and niche consulting firms: Accenture Strategy, Alvarez &Marsal, A.T. Kearney, Bain & Company, Deloitte, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger, Strategy&, and The Boston Consulting Group amongst others.



    Global Investment Banks such as Avendus Capital, Citi, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and Nomura amongst others participated in the process.The sector also saw participation from Private Equity and Venture Capitalist firms this year such as Matrix Partners and Apollo Global Management.


    Sales & Marketing

    Sales & Marketing has been a popular sector among the students. Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, Mondelez International, Nestle, PepsiCo, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, Shell, Vodafone and Wipro Consumer Care amongst others were the top recruiters.


    General Management

    General Management and Leadership profiles were offered to students by Aditya Birla Group, BhartiAirtel, C.K. Birla Group, Lodha Group, Mahindra, Reliance ADAG and TAS amongst others.



    Recruiters such as Amazon, Flipkart, OlaCabs, Quikr, Snapdeal and Uber offered jobs in the Internet and E-Commerce space.


    Top technology firms like Cognizant, Google, EdgeVerve, Microsoft and Samsung amongst others recruited from the IIM Ahmedabad campus.



    Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory and GlaxoSmithKline were the top recruiters in the Pharmaceuticals sector.

    Hopscotch, Future Group and Practo were the first time recruiters.

    Top Recruiters in terms of Offer

    Consulting – Accenture Strategy was the top recruiter across all clusters having hired 21 students. Apart from Accenture Strategy, McKinsey & Company and The Boston Consulting Group extended 10 each, Bain & Company made 9 offers from the Consulting domain.

    BFSI – Yes Bank made 10 offers. Among global investment banks, Goldman Sachs made 5 offers for various roles.

    Sales & Marketing/FMCG - Hindustan Unilever and Star TV India made 6 offers each in this domain/sector.

    General Management – BhartiAirtel was the highest recruiter in this sector with 9 offers. Aditya Birla Group and Future Group made 8 offers each.

    E-Commerce/Technology – While Amazon made 13 offers, Samsung offered 10 jobs to the IIM Ahmedabad students.

    Entrepreneurship & Start ups

    This year, 11 students have opted out of the placement process in order to take up entrepreneurship as career. The start-ups are on adventure tourism, data analytics, e-commerce, food processing among others.  IIM Ahmedabad mentions, “IIM Ahmedabad offered a placement holiday to these students, wherein they will be allowed to participate in placements in one of the next two years in the event that their venture does not work out.”


    The total number of students in this batch was 38. More than 25 companies participated in the recruitment process of the Agribusiness sector. According to IIM Ahmedabad, the companies ranged from MNCs to small and medium enterprises to start up firms.


    Top Recruiters

    Yes Bank and Syngenta were the top recruiters, recruiting 4 and 3 students respectively. Bikanervala, Coromandel, EW Nutrition, Future Group, Proctor & Gamble and United Breweries hired for the first time from the programme. Regular recruiters like ESP, Godrej Agrovet, Rabo Bank, and Tafe also hired from the PGP ABM programme.


    Sector wise recruitment

    Retail, FMCG, Inputs, Banking & Financial Services, Farm Equipment, Developmentwere the top recruiting sectors.


    3 students from the programme opted out of the placement process in order to start their own venture in supply chain and medical tourism.

  • FMS has completed the final placement process for the academic year 2013-15. According to the B-School, this year saw bigger participation from fast growing emerging businesses.

    The placement process was conducted in two phases with the first one being Lateral Placements for students with prior work experience of more than 18 months and the second phase (Final Placements) was for students with lesser/no work experience.


    The highlights of the placement process are given below.

    -217 students received 236 offers with an average CTC of Rs. 17.04 LPA

    -Average compensation of the top 50% of the offers accepted was Rs. 20.46 LPA

    -60 PPOs were made, a 58% increase over the previous year

    -52 students received offers with CTC upwards of Rs. 20 LPA

    -Offers from The Boston Consulting Group, Accenture Strategy and Deloitte USI combined more than doubled from 11 to 24 over the previous year

    -25% increase in the number of offers made in Consulting and General Management

    -5 times more offers received in E-commerce sector compared to previous year

    Consulting/General Management

    The highest recruiters were Accenture Strategy and Deloitte USI (S&O) made 11 and 10 offers respectively. The Boston Consulting Group hired 3 students. The others recruiters in this domain were Capgemini, Cognizant Business Consulting, EY, Infosys Management Consulting, KPMG, etc.

    Firms which hired students in General Management roles include Cipla, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries Limited, Tata Administrative Services, Tata Communications, Welspun, etc.

    Sales & Marketing


    The top recruiters in this sector included Asian Paints, Coca-Cola, Henkel, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, PepsiCo, RB, etc. A number of Consumer Durable firms also made offers for a variety of roles to the students which included Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, etc.



    More than 40 offers were received from companies from the BFSI sector. Avendus Capital hired for its Investment Banking and Wealth Management roles. Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, etc. were among the top recruiters. All major Indian banks – Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, SBI, Yes Bank, etc. recruited from FMS Delhi. SBI Capital Markets and Hannover Re also made offers to the students. Corporate Finance roles were offered by Nestle and Vodafone among others.

    E-Commerce & IT Services/Operations


    Top names from E-Commerce, Amazon, Info Edge, MakeMyTrip, etc. extended offers to students.

    First time recruiters in this sector were CarTrade, Housing, Magicbricks, PayTM, Shopclues, Snapdeal, etc. A variety of roles in product management, operations, account management, online marketing, etc. were offered.

    In the technology sector, top recruiters were Ericsson, Google, HCL, Samsung and Wipro. HCL hired 8 students for its prestigious Global Engagement Manager profile.
